The first question most people ask about Botox isn’t “does it work.” It’s “how many units will I need, and what’s that going to cost?” Fair enough. Botox is priced per unit almost everywhere, including at Lynchburg Aesthetics, so the number of units is the number that matters. Here’s how it breaks down by area, what changes it, and why the cheapest per-unit price in Lynchburg isn’t always the cheapest Botox.

Typical Botox Units by Area

These are the ranges most injectors work within. Your own number depends on how strong your muscles are and how much movement you want to keep.

  • Forehead lines: 10 to 20 units. Men and people with very active foreheads sit at the top of the range.
  • Frown lines (the “11s” between the brows): 15 to 25 units. This is the area that needs the most, because the muscles that pull the brows together are strong.
  • Crow’s feet: 6 to 12 units per side, so 12 to 24 total.
  • Bunny lines on the nose: 4 to 8 units.
  • Lip flip: 4 to 6 units.
  • Chin dimpling: 4 to 8 units.
  • Masseter (jaw slimming or teeth grinding): 20 to 30 units per side.

A first-timer doing forehead and frown lines together usually lands somewhere between 25 and 45 units. Add crow’s feet and you’re at 40 to 65. That’s the honest range; anyone quoting you a flat “20 units does your whole face” is either under-treating or counting differently.

Why the Number Varies So Much

Three things. First, muscle strength. If you’ve spent forty years frowning at spreadsheets, your corrugator muscles are stronger than someone who hasn’t, and they need more product to relax. Men almost always need more than women for the same area. Second, the result you want. Some patients want to keep some forehead movement so they can still raise their brows; that’s fewer units, placed carefully. Others want it smooth. Third, whether you’ve had Botox before. Muscles that have been treated regularly get a little weaker over time, so returning patients often need slightly less than they did the first time.

This is why Dr. Carvajal doesn’t quote a number over the phone. He looks at how your face moves, then tells you.

What Botox Costs in Lynchburg

Per-unit pricing in the Lynchburg area generally runs in the same band as the rest of Virginia. The number that matters is the total, and that’s units times price. A forehead-and-frown-lines treatment at the middle of the range is a very different bill from a full upper face plus masseters, so ask for the total before you agree to anything, not just the per-unit rate. At Lynchburg Aesthetics we give you a written figure at your consultation. Call 434-616-4986 for current per-unit pricing, or see our Botox in Lynchburg page for what’s involved.

Why the Cheapest Per-Unit Price Isn’t the Cheapest Botox

Here’s the thing about per-unit pricing. A unit placed in the wrong spot is a unit wasted, and a unit placed in the wrong spot near the brow can drop your eyelid for three months. A practice that charges less per unit but needs more units to get the same result, or uses more because the injector isn’t sure where the muscle is, doesn’t save you anything. What you’re paying for is placement, and placement is anatomy. Dr. Carvajal is a board-certified facial cosmetic surgeon who trained in maxillofacial surgery, which means he knows where every muscle in your face attaches and what it does. That’s not a sales line. It’s the difference between a natural result and a surprised one.

Botox vs Jeuveau vs Dysport: Do the Units Compare?

Not directly. Botox and Jeuveau are dosed roughly the same, so the unit counts above apply to both. Dysport uses a different unit scale; you’ll see numbers about two and a half to three times higher, which doesn’t mean you’re getting more product. Xeomin doses like Botox. If you’re comparing quotes across practices, make sure you’re comparing the same product, or ask for the total price of the treatment rather than the unit count.

How Long Do the Units Last?

Three to four months for most people. The result appears over three to seven days and peaks at about two weeks. If you find it’s wearing off at eight weeks, the dose was probably a little light, and that’s worth mentioning at your next visit. Regular treatment every three to four months keeps the muscles trained and the lines from re-forming.
